Next day of citizen science

THE SECOND MARINE BIODIVERSITY CENSUS DAY IS SCHEDULED, AT THE PORT OF LA SELVA.

This year, the CLOSED (Catalan Federation of Underwater Activities), within the framework of the project ANERIS, has launched the marine biodiversity census days, all over the Catalan coast.

Let's remember that ANERIS is a European project for the automatic monitoring of marine life.

The initiative, led by the ICM-CSIC (Institute of Marine Sciences), aims to deal with the rapid loss of oceanic biodiversity, through the development of tools for the monitoring, research and management of marine life.

This is why citizen science plays a key role in the project, providing information by taking photographs of the species observed on the seabed, and regularly uploading them to the platform MINKA.

The Diving Section of the Nautical Club, at the beginning of the season, joined such an important project, in order to contribute to photographing marine species of the Mar d'Amunt (North of the Cap de Creus Natural Park).

In order to give visibility and continuity to this initiative, the FECDAS, together with the Diving Section of the Club Nàutic, has scheduled the second marine census day at Port de la Selva, which will take place on Friday December 15.
