GOOD ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES

The Club Nàutic Port de la Selva, in its day-to-day operations, implements a strict environmental policy, in order to actively participate in its improvement and conservation.

This is why we ask all users and visitors to participate in this initiative and commit to following the following environmental behavior guidelines:

Water consumption

  • Connect the hose first and turn off the tap before disconnecting it.
  • Do not leave faucets running while scrubbing the deck.
  • Use interrupted jet diffusers.
  • When using the Club's sanitary facilities, measure water consumption and ensure that taps and showers are turned off after use.
  • Notify Marineria staff when you detect a leak.
  • Don't waste fresh water, water is a scarce commodity.

Consumption and use of electrical energy

  • Connect the cable first to the boat socket and then to the service turret socket.
  • Ensure that the plug does not fall into water as the presence of salt is a potential hazard.
  • Notify the Seaman on duty when you detect any operating errors. Do not tamper with supply turrets.
  • Once you have charged the boat's batteries, disconnect the service turret outlet and then the boat's
  • When finished using the electrical connection, make sure the turret socket cover is closed.
  • Rationalize the use of lighting on your boat by preferably using low consumption lamps.

Dumps and Wastewater

  • Empty grey, black and bilge water at the Club Suction Station, located at the Fuel Service Station.
  • Use the sanitary facilities of the Club instead of those of the boat.
  • Avoid throwing the viscera and remains of fishing or any other organic matter into the waters of the Port.
  • .If you wash the boat, use only biodegradable products.
  • Do not transfer or handle fuels or oils or other operations that could lead to spills in the waters of the port.
  • Periodically check the engines, accumulators and lower parts of the boat (bilges), to detect possible leaks.
  • Notify the seaman on duty if you detect any accidental spillage
  • The dumping of any hazardous substance into the sewer is strictly prohibited, even without the authorization of the person in charge of the affected Department.

waste

  • Separate the generated waste and deposit it in the containers according to the uses that have been assigned to it (organic, paper, glass), do not leave waste that is not admissible for each case.
  • Deposit special waste (oils, batteries, leftover paints, fluorescent lights, or others) at the blue point. Do not deposit them in the containers distributed by the Club.
  • Do not pour any liquid or aqueous substance or waste into the premises (oils, grease, etc.).
  • Do not leave expired flares either in containers, in the blue point or anywhere else in the port.
  • Do not leave waste of any kind anywhere in the Club.
  • Those waste generated at Club Nàutic Port de la Selva from the activity carried out by the subcontracted company, will be separated and stored in accordance with the statement by the Department Managers of Club Nàutic Port de la Selva.
  • If during the transport of special waste to the corresponding manager, any disappearance, loss or escape of the same occurs, the waste carrier must contact the Head of Department of Club Nàutic Port de la Selva to inform him the happened Phone: 972387000

Fuel loading

  • Check that the fuel supplied corresponds to what you have requested.
  • Make sure that the requested amount fits the capacity of the deposit. Avoid spilling fuel into the water
  • Notify the Station staff if you detect any accidental spillage and ask for absorbent material if you consider it appropriate.

Atmospheric emissions

  • Comply with the speed limits established in the port area for both vehicles and boats.
  • Try not to leave the engines running in the premises in those situations that are not essential.
  • Keep the engines in good condition to have good combustion, and avoid atmospheric pollution

noise

  • Any party or other activity that generates noise requires the express authorization of the Club Management.
  • Do not run the engines while the boat is moored at the dock or wharf.
  • Do not leave the halyards loose so that they can hit the mast.

Navigation

  • Regarding the fauna and flora of the coast and the coast. They are the best gift we have for our cruises.
  • Avoid anchoring on the meadows of Posidonia.
  • Do not throw rubbish, organic remains, oils, paints, solvents or any other liquid or solid waste into the sea, not even cigarette butts.
  • Avoid fuel spills in water.
  • Avoid noise and excessive speed in navigation.
  • Respect the silence of nature and the rest of others.
  • Sail, enjoy the sea, nature and your boat.

Other Aspects

  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Have solvent paints, brushes,... in retention buckets to avoid possible spills on the floor.
  • Cover the area of ​​land occupied by the boat with cardboard or plastic so as not to stain the floor.
  • If any scraping, polishing, etc. is carried out, machinery with dust extraction must be used to avoid atmospheric pollution.
  • In case of painting with a gun, this can only be done if a tent is built around the boat to prevent any leakage of paint to the outside. It will be advisable to have a system of filtering and renewing the air inside the tent.
  • The waste generated (empty paint cans, brushes, tapes, cloths, etc.) must be deposited in the selective containers to later be handled by an authorized manager
  • Any cleaning work that may arise from the activity of the subcontractor will be carried out without contravening any external or internal rules regarding the quality of tributaries and discharges.
  • In case of doubt or emergency situation, the staff of the subcontracted company will urgently communicate with Club Nàutic Port de la Selva staff to follow the instructions for action in the event of an accident. As an example: in case of accidental spillage, generation of waste not covered by waste management...
  • The vehicles and machinery that must be used within the facilities of Club Nàutic Port de la Selva will be maintained in good maintenance conditions, especially with regard to the emission of noise, gases and without spills or oil leaks or other products.
  • Possible damage to soil, water, emissions or impacts on the environment resulting from the negligence of the subcontractor's activity must be rectified and repaired before ending the service provided.
