SAILING SCHOOL

Minimum age 6 years (it is required that the student knows how to swim and has good buoyancy).

Sailing is one of the best recreational and sporting activities to enjoy the natural environment and that opens up a world of possibilities and new sensations.

The practice of sailing has a clear educational vocation, working on trust with colleagues, knowledge of the environment, decision-making, a sense of responsibility and safety.

The Sailing School of the Port de la Selva Nautical Club is recognized by the Catalan Sailing School, the Catalan Federation of sailing that day royal federation Spanish Sailing.

L’goal of our school is that the student learns the techniques that allow him to navigate with maximum safety and correctness.

The Courses are aimed at children and young people aged 6 to 14.

LEVELS

The levels that can be reached at our school are those established by the Catalan Sailing Federation, according to the following scheme:

BASIC LEVEL

White level

Introduction to navigation, where there is a first contact with the boat's controls and their relationship with the wind.

Knowledges:

  • Sailor's lexicon
  • Displacement on the surface of the vessel.
  • Orientation of the boat and the sails with respect to the wind.
  • Functions and mobility of the crew on board.

Yellow level

The basic elements of sailing are learned.

Knowledges:

  • The navigation of the course: across, tight, long, and wet.
  • The basic techniques of maneuvers (turns).
  • Basic knots and tossing heads.
  • To properly store the sails and the material.
  • The basic meteorology and prevailing winds of the area.
  • Basic safety on board.
  • The maneuver of entering and leaving the port or beach.

MEDIUM LEVEL

Level Orange

The knowledge achieved at the yellow level is refined and new concepts of ship theory and preference rules are introduced.

Knowledges:

  • Navigation on a route marked by buoys.
  • The courses of Popa and Cenyida are practiced.
  • The techniques of turning forward and trabujada.
  • Basic meteorology.
  • The theory of the ship.
  • Navigation safety.

Green level

The knowledge gained from the orange level with minimum wind force 3-4 is applied.

ADVANCED LEVEL

Blue level

The autonomy to navigate is achieved and the specific techniques and maneuvers of each boat are perfected.

Knowledges:

  • Navigation
  • The settlement of the ship.
  • Safety in coastal navigation.
  • Navigation with markings (cruise only).
  • The trapeze navigation technique.
  • THE boarding regulation (rules of preference).

Brown Level

All navigation techniques are completely achieved.

Knowledges:

  • Navigation
  • General security.
  • Adjusting the sails (triming).
  • Tackles with light sail.
  • The use of the compass.
  • L'ús de l'Espinnaker/Gennaker.
  • The theory of the ship.

Violet level

The knowledge achieved in the Brown level is practiced with minimum wind force 3-4.

RACING SCHOOL

Gray Level

The student is ready to start his sports career.

Knowledges:

  • The preparation of the ship.
  • The practice of the regatta route.
  • The technique of exits in competition.
  • Regatta and marking technique.
  • Regatta maneuvers.
  • The route in sections (between buoys).

From July 1 to August 30.

SAILING COURSES (Morning):

For all levels, from 6 to 14 years.

Weekly courses: from Monday to Friday.

Schedule: from 09:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (15 h/week).

LIGHT SAILING COURSES (Afternoon):

For all levels, from 6 years.

Weekly courses: from Monday to Friday.

Schedule: from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (12.5 h/week).

  • 5% for large families (to apply this discount you must request the code at the Club offices).

Registrations are made through the Club's website, where you can select the mode (Sailing) and choose the dates and times.

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

The recommended equipment, which should facilitate movements in navigation maneuvers and in directing the ships, is the following:

  • T-shirt, preferably white.
  • Short pants or a Bermuda-swimsuit, with fastening at the waist.
  • Cap or visor, preferably in light colors.
  • Glasses, only if they are necessary and with a rubber band on the head.
  • Protective cream.
  • Sailing gloves or similar.
  • Light footwear, with non-slip rubber, canvas or plastic soles.

A tracksuit or long trousers, a sweater and a kangaroo or waterproof garment are recommended as a complement, and you can bring a towel and spare clothes to change after sailing.

SECURITY

The CNPS Sailing School wants its students to sail in complete safety; and for this reason, the monitors take care of safety, both on land and at sea; Besides:

  • All students are equipped with buoyancy aid vests, which are provided by the CNPS.
  • Students need to know how to swim correctly at least 30 meters.
  • Monitors carry portable radio transmitters to communicate with each other and the Club.
  • All instructors have knowledge of first aid.
  • The CNPS has semi-rigid boats, fast for coordination, support and control.
