New boat of the Corps of Rural Agents

PRESENTATION OF THE NEW BOAT OF THE MARINE SUPPORT GROUP OF THE CORPS OF RURAL AGENTS AT THE FACILITIES OF THE PORT DE LA SELVA YACHT CLUB.

The minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, Teresa Jordà, accompanied by the director general of the Rural Agents, Marc Costa, and the chief inspector of the Corps of Rural Agents, Josep Antoni Mur, witnessed the act of ' avarice of the vessel.

The new boat, named Mar Brava, will complement the service previously provided by the Massa d'Or for patrolling, surveillance and control of the maritime protected areas of the Girona demarcation.

Councilor Jordà wanted to start the event by thanking the work "that rural agents throughout the country do every day, with enviable dedication, commitment and professionalism". That is why he has valued the incorporation of new tools, such as this boat that will allow "improving the work tools that rural agents have at their disposal".

The minister also wanted to highlight the commitment to ecology and the comfort that this boat brings to the agents who have to use it. In this regard, the general director of the Rural Agents, Marc Costa, has highlighted that the new "boat is a pioneer as it has a hybrid engine and very low emissions", in accordance with the task of protecting the environment that the Rural Agents develop

For his part, the chief inspector of the body, Josep Antoni Mur, wanted to highlight the "strong impulse of the Marine Support Group which in 2020 increased the number of personnel to the 23 officers who make up it today". The incorporation of this new vessel before the summer campaign will lead to "an increase in the body's maritime response capacity" to actions such as the fight against poaching, the protection of posidonia or the carrying out of fires in coves or inaccessible spaces".

The event was also attended by the mayor of Port de la Selva, Josep Maria Cervera; of the Director General of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, Sergi Tudela; from the President of the Port de la Selva Nautical Club, Lluís Fraguell; from the director general of the Generalitat Police - Mossos d'Esquadra, Pere Ferrer; as well as commands of both the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Rural Agents and the members of the Maritime Support Group of the Regional Area of ​​Girona, among other authorities.

The specificities of the Mar Brava

The new boat is a QUER 35 Pilot Cabin Walkarround, which has been developed by the Quer Professional Boats shipyard in Port de la Selva, in Alt Empordà. It is a boat of 10.8 meters in total length and is hybrid, a pioneering fact in boats of these characteristics.

It has a Volvo D6-380 EVC2 engine with low emissions and a 10Kw Torqueedo electric motor, being one of the most modern and efficient boats that exists today.

In addition, the boat provides a large space aft to be able to work in a much more comfortable way, and incorporates a sheltered work and rest space for the crew, equipped with anti-fatigue and anti-dizziness systems , and improving its thermal and acoustic insulation.

In addition, the boat will be equipped with state-of-the-art technological equipment, which incorporates a 3D sonar, radar or thermal camera, which will substantially increase the effectiveness and safety of the actions.
