Mini Transat 2023 – 2a Etapa

CARLES MANERA, YACHT CLUB SAILER AND CURRENT MINITRANSAT LEADER, READY FOR THE DEPARTURE OF THE 2ND STAGE TO THE CARIBBEAN!

After three weeks dedicated to setting up his boat and preparing the next transatlantic stage, Carlos Manera, winner of the first stage of the Minitransat, is ready for the departure that will take place on the 28th from Palma Island, Canary Islands.

Three intense weeks in which Carles had to repair the rudder, damaged as a result of an impact, elements of the caboose and some other small repairs, to leave the boat in perfect condition.

He has also devoted it to preparing clothing for an Atlantic crossing, food for 16 days (all freeze-dried and some snacks, since he only has a jet boil to heat water) and water (approximately 3 l. per day) . In total about 20 kg.

The weather at the moment is very uncertain, as this time of year should be marked by well-established trade winds, and in principle this is not the case.

They are waiting for 2,700 nm (6,000 km) to the Caribbean island of Guadalupe, approximately 15 days. The record for this crossing is 13 days (2019 edition).

Carlos will leave with an advantage of 10 minutes over the second sailor and 1 hour 15 minutes over the third.
